Where to Start?
Every good skincare routine starts off with a Cleanser to eradicate impurities, makeup, dead skin cells, oil and other types of pollutants from the skin. Finding the right one for your skin type can seem like a daunting task but as a skin expert, I am here to help. Cleansers should work with the skin not against it so its important that you find the right one for you.
Tone it up
All Toners are not created equal. Some toners will remove excess surface oil, some will hydrate, some will add antioxidants and some will enhance the action of other products used.
Exfoliation is the removal of the dead, keratinized skin cells sitting on the skin's surface, leaving the skin smooth and fresh. There are two types of exfoliators, mechanical and chemical. Mechanical exfoliators literally rub the dead skin cells off, [comfort zone's] Essential Scrub contains Silica and Jojoba spheres to achieve this. However, this sort of exfoliation is not ideal for sensitive skins as it is to abrasive. Chemical exfoliators contain acidic ingredients to achieve the same results. These are in the form of fruit enzymes, such as pineapple (Bromelain). Chemical exfoliators are applied to skin like a mask and allowed to work for 10 minutes, when removed the skin feels smooth and appears illuminated.
Serums contain much higher proportional concentration of active ingredients. They are a lightweight moisturiser that penetrates deeper into the Dermis layers of the skin to nourish new skin cells as they come to surface.
Hydrate, Protect, Smooth
Moisturisers are the final step of every skincare routine, there are so many different types on the market and finding the right one for you is important. They can treat dry skin, protect sensitive skin, improve skin tone and texture and mask imperfections. To make matters more confusing, you can get lightweight moisturisers for more humid climates and richer ones to protect and nourish the skin in colder temperatures.
One of the questions I ask during every consultation 'If there were one concern with your skin that I could fix today, what would it be? Everybody has their individual imperfections that they want to target, whether it's wrinkles, dark circles, discolouration, spots or redness. [Comfort Zone] offers a range of boosters to target these; Night Oil, Masks, Eyepatches, Eye Creams, Spot Correctors and Peel Pads.
