We are in an era where everyone is trying to be healthier but, the only areas people seem to focus on are exercise and some form of diet. I have tried most things, I am a massive yo yo dieter so have found that nothing ever really sticks, well apart from the weight anyway!
I realised that you must make a lifestyle change to achieve your goals, I decided that I wanted to focus on improving my skins appearance, I also wanted to improve my knowledge on nutrition and how it can work with my [comfort zone] skincare brand. The experiment began!
Juices & Smoothies
I’m not a massive fan of eating loads of veggies or fruit (more chocolate, cake etc) so the only way I thought I’d get enough of this into my diet was to introduce juice. So, I went out and bought a nice fancy juicer, we all know how I like my nice, expensive, probably not worth the money things and began researching ingredients which have greater effects on the skin. Below you will find some yummy (trust me these ones taste good, I haven’t included the vomit inducing ones!) juice recipes which contain skin loving ingredients and work very well alongside some of the skincare ranges I provide.
4 Table Spoons of Goji Berries
250ml of Coconut Water
3 Passion Fruits, halved and fruit scooped out
2 Large Bananas, peeled and sliced
½ - 1 teaspoon Camu Camu Powder
1-2 teaspoons of Maca
Goji Berry Oil is an active ingredient present in our [comfort zone] Renight Cream & Oil. As a powerful antioxidant it neutralises free radicals found in the skin cells preventing damage and skin ageing.
Both Goji Berry and Passion Fruit are Beta Carotenes which provide high antioxidant properties reduce wrinkles and help maintain skin elasticity and hydration.
100ml Coconut Water
3 Large handfuls of chopped, deseeded watermelon
2 Large handfuls of strawberries
1 Green Apple, peeled and quartered
½ teaspoon flaxseed oil
1-2 teaspoons of Spirulina Powder
This is the ultimate hydrator to pair with your [comfort zone] Hydramemory regime. The Hydramemory products contain many hydrating natural active ingredients such as watermelon rind so you’ll be getting double the hydration inside and out.
Flaxseeds are a beneficial plant source of Omega 3 fatty acids an important ingredient to feed your skin to create a smoother, younger looking appearance.
Rosy Cheeks (Remedy)
2 Large handfuls of fresh or frozen raspberries
2 Pears, peeled, cored & chopped
2 Small Apples, cored & quartered
125ml Plain Bio Yoghurt
2 teaspoons Camu Camu Powder
½ teaspoon Flaxseed Oil
The ingredients in this soothing smoothie combine to give your skin a big boost of phytonutrients. Raspberries, Pears and Apples are all types of flavonoids (a phytonutrient) which can help to protect the blood vessels and capillaries, decreasing permeability. Flavonoids help reduce inflammation, as well as increasing absorption of potent antioxidants. Many phytonutrients provide protection from damage exposure to UV Rays.
Probiotics within the Bio Yoghurt provide added protection and strength to our cells, the prebiotics found within our Remedy Skincare range can feed the probiotics ensuring they perform to maximum effect when protecting the body.
Corrector (Active Pureness)
2 Handfuls of seedless white grapes
4 Handfuls fo spinach leaves
2 Pears, peeled, cored and cut into long wedges
4 Handfuls of sweetheart cabbage, shredded
2 Teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons Spirulina Powder
Cleansing and detoxifying, this juice is packed with lots of skin clarifying ingredients. A mixture of antioxidant and anti-inflammatories cleanse the blood and provide essential vitamins.
Spirulina is a type of green algae, yes it doesn't sound great but you can't really taste it. One of the main ingredients found in the Active Pureness range is Spirulina, which distinguishes itself for its extraordinary capacity to synthesize nutrients of high quality. Particularly rich in beta-carotene, the precursor of Vitamin A, it promotes a protective, antioxidant action and also stimulates collagen synthesis.
